Scratches and Scuffs
Wherever possible scuffs and scratches on fairing panels and tanks are spot repaired keeping the repair area to a minimum and therefore removing the need for a full re-spray or new graphics. If the damage is close to a graphic this normally would have to be replaced. 95% of bikes have the graphics applied after the paint, if I work too close to the graphic the paint level can tend to be built up causing the repair to be detectable around the graphic. Saving £20 on a sticker could knock hundreds of pounds of the re sell value of the motorbike.
Motorcycle tanks have the graphics lacquered over so these can normally be masked to protect them from the colour coat and then the whole tank is re-lacquered, this gives it a more durable finish and one that can be highly polished.
Unfortunately, certain motorbike colours cannot be invisibly spot repaired and in these cases the complete panel or a larger than normal area must be painted to match the rest of the bike. Scratches to colour coded or textured mirrors can normally be repaired to an original finish.
